Grow Your Online MLM Business With Only Free Traffic?

When you sift through all the “tips,” “tricks,” “strategies” and “techniques” for getting traffic for your online MLM business that are out there, it comes down to the fact that there are really just two types of traffic: paid traffic and free traffic.
Free traffic is generated through means like article marketing, forum posts, classified ad postings, answer sites (like answers.yahoo.com and wikianswers.com), press release submissions and blogging. Paid traffic is generated through means like banner advertising, PPC (on Yahoo, Google, Facebook, MSN, Adbrite.com, etc), PPV (pay per view – examples: zango.com, clicksor.com, etc) and buying ad space on a site or blog.
While you have probably read proponents of each one who say that one is better and more effective than the other, what is the truth? Is paid traffic or free traffic the right way to go?
The answer is that they both are — depending on certain factors — and that they both work. Ideally, you will use both paid and unpaid traffic to build your online MLM business.
Right now you are probably saying, “Gee, thanks… that was really helpful” in a very sarcastic voice. Hold on, though, because I’m not finished.
It is true that in an ideal world, you would probably use some combination of paid and unpaid traffic to build an online MLM business. Both have their positive and negative attributes.
Not everyone, though, is in a position (either because of knowledge or finances) to use both. So the question is this: Can you build a great online MLM business with just free traffic? The answer is yes (and no).
You can certainly build a great online MLM business with only free traffic, if by “free” you mean traffic that doesn’t cost money to generate. “Free” traffic will cost you a lot of your time. It is a much more labor-intensive way to get traffic.
For example, you could can spend 45 minutes writing and submitting an article to directories and in the coming days, weeks and months, maybe get five or so leads from that one article. Not much leverage here, but a little — you spent 45 minutes to generate about 5 leads (Of course this number could be higher or lower – I’m just using some “rough” — yet realistic — numbers here).
The analysis would be the same for any of the other means of getting free traffic (like Wikianswers or press releases etc). The other “price” of free traffic is that you will generate traffic and leads more slowly than you do with paid traffic.
So, generally speaking, free traffic comes at a price…it’s typically slower at generating traffic. The big advantage to free traffic (aside from it not costing you any money) is that you generate SUPER targeted traffic.
The key, whether you’re using free or paid traffic, is to pick one thing and get really good at it. So, for example, if you are using free traffic, you might start with article marketing first. Get really good at it, and start posting a lot of them. Once you have done that, then you can move on and add another form of free traffic to your arsenal. Once you build up these things one at a time, you will have lead abundance and the traffic (as well as the dollars) will be flowing!
